Muhammad Iqbal lived in this house on McLeod Road from December 1922 to May 1935, some of the most productive years of his life as a poet and thinker. He was knighted within weeks of moving in, and leading figures of the day, among them Muhammad Ali Jinnah, called on him here. The house is a protected monument in the Qila Gujjar Singh area off McLeod Road. In 1935 Iqbal moved to Javed Manzil, now the Iqbal Museum, where he spent his last years.
