The khanqah of Baybars al-Jashankir was built between 1306 and 1310 by the amir who briefly became sultan as Baybars II. It is the oldest khanqah in Cairo to survive, built to house a community of Sufis with their cells around a courtyard. The founder's domed tomb lies behind a window grille set into the facade, and its minaret is topped with green tiles. It stands on al-Gamaliya Street, south of Bab al-Nasr.
