Al-Suhaymi House is a merchant's house built in 1648 and enlarged in 1796, taking its name from the Suhaymi family, its last owners. It is the finest surviving example of a house of old Cairo. Its rooms open onto a garden courtyard and are screened by wooden mashrabiyya windows, with a reception hall, a fountain and painted ceilings. It stands on Darb al-Asfar, off al-Muizz Street, and is open to visitors.
