Al-Sinnari House was built in 1794 and is one of the few great town houses of that period left in Cairo. During the French expedition it housed scholars and artists working on the Description de l'Egypte. The house has a courtyard with a fountain and rooms decorated with wood and stucco. It has been restored and is now a cultural centre run by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. It stands in an alley off Monge Street in Sayyida Zaynab.
