Salih Abu Hadid came from Bayum near Mit Ghamr, the home town of Ali al-Bayumi, and earned his living as a weaver. With every pull of the yarn on his loom he would say 'La ilaha illa Allah', teaching that this is how work becomes worship. He followed the Shadhili path, helped the poor and stood up for the weak, and Mazarat Misr tells that he was given the strength to bend iron with his hands. His tomb stands on Hanafi Street, off Majlis al-Sha'b Street in the Sayyida Zaynab district, close to the Hanafi mosque.
