Sayyid al-Hasan al-Anwar, son of Zayd al-Ablaj and great-grandson of Sayyiduna al-Hasan ibn Ali, was governor of Madinah under the caliph al-Mansur and the father of Sayyida Nafisa. Mazarat Misr tells that his prayers were known to be answered and that he moved to Egypt, where he spent his last years. This small mosque in Old Cairo is honoured as his resting place. The mosque stands in the lanes between Fumm al-Khalig and Old Cairo. It is visited by those who come for his daughter's shrine in al-Khalifa.
