The mosque-madrasa of Asanbugha was built in 1370 by the amir Sayf al-Din Asanbugha ibn Baktamur al-Abubakri, who grew up at the court of the Mamluk sultans, during the reign of Sultan al-Ashraf Sha'ban. It has a long stone facade with recessed windows and a minaret of three stages over the entrance. It stands on Darb Sa'ada Street near Bab al-Khalq.
