The Mu'ini mosque and madrasa was built in 710 AH by the Damietta merchant Muhammad ibn Mu'in al-Din in the reign of Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun. It is one of the few Mamluk madrasas in Lower Egypt, with large arches over its iwans and cells for students, and it stands in the old Ismail quarter of Damietta.
