This mosque was built in 1418 by the amir Abd al-Ghani al-Fakhri, but everyone in Cairo knows it as Jami' al-Banat. It is an active neighbourhood mosque in the busy streets near Bab al-Khalq. Inside are a finely carved wooden minbar, painted ceilings and two dark stone columns reused from much older buildings, and the doors are covered in bronze. It stands on a lane off Port Said Street, a short walk from the Museum of Islamic Art.
