Mahmud Mosque is an old neighbourhood mosque of the Old City of Sana'a, built before the tenth century AH. The historian al-Hajri records that Imam Yahya Hamid al-Din bought the house below its square to enlarge it and deepened its well. The mosque has a prayer hall with a flat timber roof on stone columns and arches, a small minaret, a water pool and traditional baths, and stands near the old cattle market.
