The Great Mosque of Hodeidah was founded in 1111 AH and is one of the oldest mosques of the port city. It stands inside the old walled quarter, in the heart of the traditional market. The prayer hall has 48 columns and seven aisles, and the outer walls are faced with coloured stone. Visitors often combine a visit with a walk through the old market around it.
