Jabal Sabir rises nearly 3,000 metres above the city of Taiz, its slopes covered with terraced fields and villages connected by winding mountain roads. It is one of the most beautiful natural places in Yemen. The drive up gives panoramic views over Taiz and the surrounding mountains, and the al-Qahira Citadel stands on its lower slopes above the old city.
