Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum was a blind Companion of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ and one of the earliest Muslims in Makkah. In Madinah he served as a mu'adhdhin alongside Bilal, and the Prophet ﷺ several times left him in charge of the city while he was away on campaign. His grave in the Bab al-Saghir cemetery of Damascus is visited by pilgrims together with the graves of Bilal and the other Companions buried there.
