Abd al-Rahman ibn Khalid was the son of Khalid ibn al-Walid. He took part in the campaigns in Syria as a young man and later served as governor of Hims under Mu'awiyah, leading forces against the Byzantines, and he fought on Mu'awiyah's side at Siffin. He passed away in 46 AH. He was buried beside his father, and his grave lies within the Mosque of Khalid ibn al-Walid in Homs, in the same tomb chamber. Visitors to the mosque usually see both graves together.
