Al-Khanqah al-Nahhasiyyah is a historic mosque north of the old city of Damascus, near the al-Uqaybah quarter. As its name shows, it began as a khanqah, a lodge where Sufis lived, worshipped and studied, one of the many such institutions founded in medieval Damascus. Today it serves as a mosque, keeping the devotional character of the old foundation in a busy part of the city.
