This maqam inside the Wadi al-Salam cemetery of Najaf is honoured as the resting place of Nabi Hud, who was sent to the people of Ad, and Nabi Salih, who was sent to the people of Thamud. A long-held tradition in Najaf places their graves here, near the grave of Sayyiduna Ali. Wadi al-Salam, the valley of peace, is one of the largest cemeteries in the world, and the domed maqam of Hud and Salih is one of its best-known landmarks, not far from the shrine of Sayyiduna Ali.
