The sabil-kuttab of Qitas Bey was built in 1040 AH (1630), in the Ottoman period, as part of the endowment of the neighbouring khanqah of Baybars al-Jashankir. Drinking water was handed out to passers-by through its grilled window, and children learned to read and recite the Qur'an in the kuttab above. It stands on al-Jamaliyya Street beside the khanqah of Baybars al-Jashankir, a short walk from the House of al-Suhaymi in Darb al-Asfar and from the khanqah of Sa'id al-Su'ada.
