This small domed tomb was built in the 1460s for the amir Sudun al-Qasrawi, who served as dawadar, the sultan's secretary, under Sultan Inal. It belongs to the late Circassian Mamluk period and is registered among the Islamic monuments of Cairo. It stands in the old al-Batiniyya quarter behind al-Azhar, about 85 metres from the zawiya of Ahmad ibn Sha'ban and close to the madrasa of Kafur al-Zimam. The Ottoman houses of al-Harrawi and Sitt Wasila, now cultural centres, are a short walk away beside al-Azhar.
