This domed tomb was built in 714 AH (1314–15) for Safi al-Din Jawhar, chief of the palace eunuchs under Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun. It is registered among the Bahri Mamluk monuments of Cairo. It stands in Haret al-Raqabiyya off Saliba Street, near the Ibn Tulun Mosque, among a cluster of Mamluk buildings: the mosque of Taghribardi is about 90 metres away, and the mosque and khanqah of Shaykhu a little further along Saliba Street.
