About Gayer-Anderson Museum

The Gayer-Anderson Museum is made up of two houses of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries built against the outer wall of the Ibn Tulun Mosque, Bayt al-Kritliyya and the house of Amna bint Salim. The British officer Gayer-Anderson Pasha lived in them from 1935 to 1942 and left them, with his collections, to Egypt. The rooms are furnished with carpets, furniture and objects from across the Muslim world, and the rooftop and mashrabiyya windows give a feel of a grand old Cairo home. It is entered from beside the Ibn Tulun Mosque.
