Shaykh Darwish al-Ashmawi is a Sufi wali of Cairo whose mosque, with his tomb, stands on the street that carries his name. The present mosque, with its minaret and domed tomb, dates from around the middle of the nineteenth century and is registered among the historic mosques of Cairo. The mosque is in the old streets between al-Ataba and al-Azbakiyya, a short walk from the Ottoman mosque of Uthman Katkhuda, known as al-Kikhya, on al-Gomhoreya Street. It is an active neighbourhood mosque for daily and Friday prayers.
