Svrzo's House is an eighteenth-century family home in the old town, a short walk uphill from Baščaršija. It was built by the Glođo family, whose best-known member was the judge Munib Efendi Glođo, and it later passed by marriage to the Svrzo family. It remained a private home until 1952 and opened as a museum in 1965. The house shows how a well-to-do Muslim family lived in Ottoman Sarajevo. It is divided into a men's section (selamluk) for receiving guests and a family section (haremluk), set around a walled courtyard and garden with a fountain. Inside are carved wooden ceilings, built-in cupboards, floor cushions and household objects of the period, and the high wall to the street kept the family's life private.
