In the middle of Jajce, the river Pliva falls about 20 metres into the Vrbas, making this one of the very few waterfalls in the world in the heart of a town. Above it rises the old royal town of the Bosnian kings, which came under Ottoman rule in 1527. A path and steps lead down to a viewing platform at the foot of the falls, where the spray and roar are strongest, and there is a good view from the road above. The waterfall is protected as a natural monument and is a short walk from the old town.
