The Tayruzi Mosque is a Mamluk mosque founded in the first half of the fifteenth century by the chamberlain Khalil al-Tayruzi. It stands outside the old city walls, north of the tomb of Atika, and is best known for the tile panels that decorate its prayer hall, among the finest of their period in Damascus. The mosque lies on the road south-west of the old city towards al-Midan, near the Sinan Pasha Mosque and Bab al-Jabiya. It is still used as a neighbourhood mosque.
