The Sinan Pasha Mosque was completed in 1590 by Sinan Pasha, the Ottoman governor of Damascus who later became Grand Vizier. It stands near Bab al-Jabiyah on the street of Souq al-Sinaniyyah, which is named after it. It is one of the finest early Ottoman mosques of Damascus, with walls in bands of black and white stone and a slender minaret covered in green glazed tiles.
