About Masjid al-Kabsh (Ram of Nabi Isma'il)

Majarr al-Kabsh is the part of Mina that stretches from east of Jamarat al-Aqabah towards the foot of Mount Thabir. It takes its name from the ram that Allah sent as a ransom for Nabi Isma'il, and a report attributed to Ibn Abbas places the rock on which the ram was sacrificed in this area. This small marked spot honours that event. For generations the area was known for the courtyards where Makkan families housed pilgrims during Hajj. Those courtyards have given way to tents, roads and walkways, but the name has stayed with the place. It lies close to the Jamarat and to Masjid al-Bay'ah, and is busiest in the days of Hajj.
