This statue of Antara ibn Shaddad, the celebrated poet and horseman of pre-Islamic Arabia, stands in the middle of Antar Square in Adhamiya, one of the best-known squares of the district, which takes its name from it. The square is a busy junction from which roads lead to the Adhamiya Corniche and the old quarter around the Abu Hanifa mosque, a short drive away.
