About Bab al-Qarafa

Bab al-Qarafa was built between 1171 and 1176 in the wall of Salah al-Din, and it led to the cemetery of Imam al-Shafi'i. It was blocked during the French expedition and rediscovered by restorers in modern times. The stone gate stands near the mosque of Sayyida Aisha, beside Bab Qaytbay, at the entrance to the Southern Cemetery.
