This mountain shrine near the village of Duraykish in the hills of Tartus is dedicated by local tradition to Nabi Salih, the prophet sent to the people of Thamud. It stands among woodland on a high ridge with old graves around it. The site has wide views over the coast and the inland plains and stays cool even in summer. Facilities are limited, so it is best visited with local guidance.
