Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was one of the earliest Muslims and among the first to recite the Qur'an aloud in Makkah. He served Nabi Muhammad ﷺ closely, was known as one of the foremost teachers of the Qur'an, and later laid the foundations of the school of learning in Kufa. He returned to Madinah at the end of his life and died there in 32 AH, aged over sixty. He was buried in al-Baqi', and his grave is shown in the group around the grave of Sayyiduna Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet ﷺ, close to those of Uthman ibn Maz'un and Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf.
