Uthman ibn Maz'un was one of the first Muslims of Makkah, known for his devotion and simple way of life, and he took part in the first emigration to Abyssinia before emigrating to Madinah and fighting at Badr. He was the first of the Muhajirun to die in Madinah, in 2 AH. The Prophet ﷺ buried him in al-Baqi', the first of the Muhajirun to be laid there, and placed a stone at the head of his grave to mark it. His grave lies beside that of Sayyiduna Ibrahim, the son of the Prophet ﷺ, who was later buried next to him. The graves of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, As'ad ibn Zurarah, Khunays ibn Hudhafah and Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf are close by.
