Tell Harmal is the mound of ancient Shaduppum, an administrative town of the kingdom of Eshnunna in the Old Babylonian period, about 3,800 years ago. Tablets found here include the Laws of Eshnunna, older than the code of Hammurabi, and mathematical texts on geometry. The small walled site stands in the New Baghdad district, with excavated walls, a temple and houses laid out among the mounds.
