This maqam in Bab al-Sharqi marks the house of Sayyid Hamdallah, a pious, generous and brave man much loved by the people of Baghdad, where he was washed after his passing. A well inside is visited for blessing. It is a modest shrine that draws visitors from across Iraq, and families often bring food to share as a vow. It stands in the Bab al-Sharqi district of Rusafa.
