The Suspension Bridge, al-Jisr al-Mu'allaq, is the only suspension bridge in Baghdad, crossing the Tigris between Karrada and Jadriya. It was designed by the American engineer David B. Steinman and built between 1961 and 1964. Its main span of about 168 metres hangs between two steel towers, and it is one of the best-known sights of the Baghdad riverside.
