The Sitt Nafisa mosque is an Ottoman-era mosque of the old Shawaka quarter of Karkh, built more than a century ago. It once housed a religious school, and a room in the mosque holds the graves of its teachers, among them Shaykh Dawud Effendi. It stands on Musa al-Kazim Street beside the Maqam of Khidr, with a brick minaret in the familiar Baghdadi style, and it was restored and reopened in 2024.
