The palace of Alin Aq was built in 1293 by the amir Alin Aq, cupbearer to Sultan al-Ashraf Khalil ibn Qalawun. It is one of the earliest Mamluk houses in Cairo, and in the sixteenth century the amir Khayrbak lived in it beside his own mosque. Much of the palace is in ruins, but its portal and the walls of its great hall survive. It stands on Bab al-Wazir Street next to the Khayrbak complex and close to the Blue Mosque.
