About Grave of Huriyya

Sayyida Huriyya is the best-loved saint of Beni Suef. Local tradition names her Zaynab, a descendant of Sayyiduna al-Husayn, and says she was called Huriyya for her beauty and piety. Her mosque was completed in the early twentieth century by Muhammad Islam Pasha of Beni Suef and was renovated in 2024 and 2025. It stands in the centre of the city, and her mawlid is held in Sha'ban.
