The Fatimid cemetery of Aswan is one of the oldest Muslim cemeteries in the world, with several hundred mudbrick domed tombs built between the eighth and twelfth centuries. The tombs stand on the desert edge on the southern side of Aswan, near the granite quarries and the Unfinished Obelisk.
