Bab al-Nasr, 'the gate of victory', was built in 1087 by the Fatimid vizier Badr al-Jamali in the northern wall of the city. It is one of the three surviving Fatimid gates. Its two square towers are carved with shields and swords, and the walk along the top of the walls connects it to Bab al-Futuh. Just outside it lies the old cemetery of Bab al-Nasr.
