The mosque of Aslam al-Silahdar was built in 1344 and 1345 by the amir Aslam al-Baha'i, the armsbearer of Sultan al-Nasir Muhammad. He passed away in 1346 and is buried in the domed tomb at one corner of the building. Its domed tomb and its two portals are finely decorated. It stands on a small square in Darb al-Ahmar near the line of the old eastern wall.
