Ajvatovica is the great rock on the mountainside above Prusac that, according to tradition, split in two in answer to the prayers of Ajvaz Dede, the dervish who came to the area with the Ottoman army in the fifteenth century. During a long drought he prayed for forty days at the rock that blocked a mountain spring, and when it parted, the water could be carried down to Prusac in wooden pipes. Every summer thousands of people walk up to the rock for Ajvatovica, the largest traditional Muslim gathering in Europe, with processions of riders in traditional dress, communal prayer and du'a at the split in the rock. The site can be visited at other times along a path from Prusac, where Ajvaz Dede's turbe stands.
