Umar ibn Ali Mosque stands in the village of al-Waht in the Lahj valley, north of Aden, a village known for its many mosques and the graves of scholars and righteous people. The mosque is named after Shaykh Umar ibn Ali and is said to be more than five hundred years old. Many scholars studied at the mosque over the centuries, and it is still in use, close to the Abdullah ibn Ali Mosque in the same village.
