The Sea Masjid, Jami' al-Bahr, stands on the shore of the Sea of Galilee in the old centre of Tiberias. It was built in the Ottoman period for the lakeside quarter of the town. Like the other old mosques of Tiberias it is built of black basalt, with a dome and a slender minaret beside the water. It is no longer used for prayer and stands on the lakeside promenade, a few minutes' walk from the Zaydani Masjid.
