Lahore Zoo was founded in 1872 on the Mall and is one of the oldest zoos in South Asia. It began with a small collection of birds and deer and grew into one of the main family attractions of the city. The zoo keeps big cats, elephants, giraffes, primates, birds and an aquarium among shaded paths next to Bagh-e-Jinnah. It is busiest at weekends and on public holidays.
