This loggia, or maq'ad, is all that remains of the palace built in 1496 by the amir Mamay al-Sayfi, one of the leading amirs of Sultan Qaytbay. It is also known as Bayt al-Qadi, because the Islamic court held its sessions here in the years before 1805. The loggia is about thirty-two metres long, with a row of arches open to the square in front. It stands on Bayt al-Qadi Square, a short walk east of al-Muizz Street.
