Jabal Musa is the mountain of southern Sinai honoured as al-Tur, the mountain where Nabi Musa was called by his Lord and received revelation. It rises to about 2,285 metres above the valley where St Catherine's Monastery stands. Most visitors climb through the night with Bedouin guides, by the camel path or the steep Steps of Repentance, to watch the sunrise from the summit. It is cold at the top for much of the year, and warm clothes are needed.
