Shaykh Ahmad al-Jawhari is buried in the old Fatimid quarter west of al-Azhar, in the lanes off al-Muizz Street, the main street of medieval Cairo. His grave is one of the many small shrines of scholars and saints in this part of the old city. It lies a short walk from the madrasa of Sultan al-Ashraf Barsbay and from the Ottoman mosque of Shaykh al-Mutahhar at the end of the goldsmiths' market. The madrasa of al-Salih Ayyub and the Qalawun complex are a little further north along al-Muizz Street.
