This single-arched stone bridge stands on the river Žepa in eastern Bosnia and is closely linked with the great Mehmed Pasha Sokolović Bridge at Višegrad. It is believed to date from the sixteenth century and to have been built by a student of Mimar Sinan, and it originally spanned a narrow gorge near the confluence of the Žepa and the Drina. When the dam of the Bajina Bašta hydroelectric plant threatened to flood it, the bridge was taken apart stone by stone and rebuilt a few kilometres upstream, keeping its original form. It was declared a national monument in 2005 and makes a peaceful stop in the wooded Žepa valley near Rogatica.
