Ostrožac stands on a hill above the river Una near Cazin. The medieval fort became an Ottoman frontier stronghold, and around 1900 its owner, Lothar von Berks, built a romantic castle with turrets and battlements within the older walls. Today visitors can walk the walls, see the ruined older sections and the newer castle, and look at the sculptures in the grounds left by an artists' colony. The ticket is inexpensive, and the views over the Una are a highlight. Take care near the older walls, some of which are unstable.
