The Mustafa Mahmoud Mosque was founded in 1979 by Dr Mustafa Mahmoud, the physician and writer known for his television programme on science and faith. It is the centre of a charitable society that runs medical clinics for people on low incomes. The complex also holds an astronomical society and a small geology museum. It stands on Gameat al-Dowal al-Arabiya Street in Mohandessin, on the Giza side of the Nile.
